Getty Images accuses Google in competition row

Getty Images represents photo journalists, content creators and artists across the globe and reportedly believe that Google by displaying images in Google search results “takes away traffic that would otherwise go to Getty’s own website”.
Getty Images believes a Google search revealing a Getty Image displayed in a large format means that there is diminutive reason for the individuals to continue to their site. This means as stated in a press release by Getty “These changes have allowed Google to reinforce its role as the internet’s dominant search engine, maintaining monopoly over site traffic, engagement data and advertising spend”.
Google is, has been and no doubt will be a dominant force in the world of the internet for many years to come. Google changes and adapts to challenges and new technology always aiming to be a leader in the field.
It will be interesting to see what happens with regard to Getty Images and other charges Google faces of breaching EU competition laws over the next months and years.
